Orria had a normal childhood for a girl her age, she had responsibilities at the hold where she grew up at, and of course she had her fun. While her mother and father, who were posted at Yukon hold, did their duties Harper and beastcrafter, Orria was in charge of the rest of their rather large family. Besides herself she had two sisters and one lone brother. The brother being the youngest. Orria often took place of her mother, unless the harper journeyman was teaching her own children lessons, but other than that Orria was there to watch after them and make sure they were fed, bathed, and so on.
Besides her other duties, which included mending, embroidery, and other lower cavern duties, Orria found she liked gardening. In fact she had quite the green thumb, tending the herb gardens and vegetable gardens at Yukon hold, with the other gardeners and workers there. Eventually as Orria grew from seven turns to eight, and then to 12 and so on her parents started to put pressure on her. They wanted her to join a craft and preferably one of theirs, which was either Harper or beastcraft. While she loved her parents, she neither had singing talent, or the will to tend animals beyond what she had to. Instead she wanted to continue gardening at the Hold and live her life that way. She would have been quite content to simply stay as a gardener, perhaps handfast to a holder boy, and raise her own family. But as it happens, life usually doesn't turn out the way she wants. In fact her parents began to pressure her so badly, about going into a craft, the young woman decided to take her own life into her own hands. Somehow.
Her chance to escape her nagging parents came when she just turned 17 Turns, and her parents needed packages delivered to a distant relation at Honshu Weyr. Taking the opportunity up, since she could ride a runner as well as anyone else, Orria set off for Honshu Weyr and her aunt that the packages belonged to. While she had no set plan in mind, she hoped that the Weyr had enough room for one more gardener, or resident.
